The Tulin of Rito Village quest is one of the most memorable early main storylines in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Players must assist the young archer Tulin in investigating a severe blizzard threatening his home before ascending to the legendary Wind Temple. Following the proper steps ensures smooth navigation through harsh mountain terrain and atmospheric airborne puzzles.

Initiating the Quest and Locating Tulin

Your journey begins at Rito Village in Hebra, where heavy snowfall has disrupted everyday life. After speaking with Teba and Harth, you will learn that Tulin has headed toward the Hebra Trailhead Lodge to gather supplies. Traveling north toward the designated mountain markers allows you to trace his steps and meet up with his allies in the snowy cliffs.

Upon reaching the higher peak near Hebra South Summit Cave, you find Tulin tracking a monster that stole his bow. Assisting him in battle rewards you with his unique gust ability, which becomes vital for traversal. Once his bow is retrieved, Tulin agrees to join Link on the dangerous ascent into the sky Above Hebra.

Ascending the Rising Island Chain

Reaching the airborne structure requires scaling the floating debris known as the Rising Island Chain. Players must combine Link's paraglider with Tulin's wind power to leap between floating ruins and sky platforms. Utilizing bouncy ship sails scattered across the ascent provides necessary height gains to overcome steep vertical gaps.

Cold resistance gear or warm meals are essential throughout this stage to prevent environmental damage. Strategic stamina management during long glides ensures you won't fall into the abyss below. Clearing the final cloud layer ultimately brings Link and Tulin directly above the grand Ark structure.

Unlocking Locks inside the Wind Temple

The Wind Temple acts as a massive airborne ship equipped with five distinct turbine locks located across its multi-level deck. To activate each lock, you must position Link near the mechanism and command Tulin to blow a powerful burst of wind directly into the fan blades. Navigating the lower floors requires solving minor environmental puzzles, such as melting ice barriers or lifting heavy metal gates using Ultrahand.

Exploring every corridor systematically allows you to locate all five locks without losing your way. Some mechanisms require dropping down from exterior hatches or gliding across windy shafts inside the hull. Once all five turbines are fully operational, the main hatch in the central deck opens up.

Defeating Colgera and Claiming the Secret Stone

Interacting with the main hatch summons Colgera, an enormous ice-armored dragon floating inside the storm center. Defeating this boss requires diving through the ice plates on its back or shooting bomb arrows at its exposed weak points. Using Tulin's wind boost helps Link dodge incoming ice spikes and position himself above the creature during mid-air combat.

Shattering all three weak spots twice will defeat the beast, clearing the blizzard from the region. Claiming the Heart Container and witnessing the cutscene grants Tulin his ancestral Secret Stone, permanently unlocking his spirit avatar to aid Link across Hyrule.
